This tour departs directly from the beach or jetty at Flying Fish Cove. Our Salted Christmas Island Snorkel Tour includes high-quality snorkelling gear (mask, snorkel, and comfortable fins), and an optional pool noodle or life jacket for added comfort and safety. Led by an experienced ocean guide, the tour offers snorkel instruction for beginners, making it perfect for both first-time snorkelers and seasoned ocean enthusiasts. This semi-private experience accommodates 2-5 guests maximum ensuring a personalised adventure. You will also receive complimentary digital photos of your tour that you're welcome to download and share. Photos will be sent within 3 days after your tour.

Salted Guided Snorkel Tours are 1.5 hours. This includes equipping you with snorkel gear, a tour briefing and snorkel lesson (if required). Our tour gives ample time to explore the underwater wonders of Flying Fish Cove.

Christmas Island offers an enthralling underwater experience with a vibrant array of marine life in stunningly clear, warm water. The island’s surrounding narrow fringing reef, home to 88 coral species and over 650 species of fish, sits on the edge of the Java Trench, the Indian Ocean’s deepest point, creating breathtaking steep drop-offs just beyond the reefs. In this marine paradise, you'll be surrounded by colourful corals and might encounter curious octopus, surgeonfish, unicorn fish, toadfish, puffers, damselfish, angelfish, batfish, moray eels, butterfly fish, leather jackets, triggerfish, parrotfish, small friendly reef sharks, turtles, and more. The beauty of Christmas Island lies in its unpredictability; unexpected wild encounters are common, adding to the island's unique charm and making each dip beneath the surface, a truly one-of-a-kind adventure.

The Snorkel Tour departs from Flying Fish Cove and you will enter the water directly from the shore. Your ocean guide will meet you at the Jetty for your tour briefing and equipment setup. If weather conditions require a change of location, this will be advised prior to your tour.

For your Salted Christmas Island Snorkel Tour, we recommend bringing a few essential items to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Wear your swimwear ready for the tour and pack a towel, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. A hat and sunglasses can also be helpful for added sun protection for the short briefing. If you have an underwater camera, this is a great opportunity to capture stunning photos of the marine life. Additionally, you might want to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. We provide all the necessary snorkelling equipment, including masks, snorkels, fins, and an optional pool noodle, so you can focus on enjoying your adventure. Please feel free to bring your own snorkel equipment should you prefer. Please note we do not have prescription masks so contact lenses are advised if required.

Additionally, we conduct safety briefings before each tour and maintain small group sizes to ensure personalised attention and care. A dive flag is taken along for the tour and snorkellers are required to stay within 20m of the flag at all times. A float is also taken if you require a rest at any point.

You can cancel or reschedule your tour, but please note that 48 hours' notice is required. Tour booking payment is required at the time of booking. If you cancel within 48 hours, no refunds will be given. Rescheduling is also subject to availability, so we recommend contacting us as soon as possible if you require changes to your booking.

Flying Fish Cove is typically very protected, making it a beautiful snorkeling spot almost all year round. If there are swells or unsuitable conditions, we will move the tour to Ethel Beach, another stunning snorkeling location. The ocean around Christmas Island is consistently warm at 27 degrees Celsius with over 20 meters of visibility. It's rare for the weather to force a tour cancellation, but if it does happen, we will notify you as soon as possible. In such cases, you will have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

We require our guests to be medically fit to participate in our snorkel tours. If you have any health concerns, please consult your healthcare provider for clearance. All guests must sign a waiver of liability before the tour, confirming they are in sound health. If you would like extra help in the water our Sea Scooter Tour is designed to accommodate those with lower fitness levels, less confident swimmers, or individuals with injuries or disabilities that may limit their confidence in the water.
